just a small correction to Jeanette's post, John could have been born 7 December 1893 ....and his birth registered in the March quarter of 1894. The index shows only when the birth was registered so if he was registered after 31 Dec 1893 it would be recorded in the quarter for Jan/Feb/Mar 94 |

The only census you could expect to find him would be 1901 census. According to BMD a John Birrell was born j/f/m 1894 in Newcastle, not December . Grace is on the 1901 census living with her parents and brothers and sisters at 65 Greenham Place, Newcastle upon Tyne. Perhaps if you got a copy of John's birth certificate and knew his parents' names, you could trace back to earlier censuses. Hope this helps. |

My husbands grandfather born in Newcastle upon Tyne(my elderly mother in law thinks) on 7 Dec 1894. His brothers were Walter and George and he had a sister called Jane. |
