Trying to find connections and ancestors of William Gillis born c 1781 and married to Isabella Scott.

Hi! Regarding your "Trying to find" post today, I wonder if you have any idea where William was born or where he and Isabella lived.

I have a reference to a Neil Gillis and a date of 1770 (perhaps when he was born) but I have no idea of connections or ancestors. If the book it is in was connected to my family here in England, possible names include, Harris, Hudson, Mortyn, Jay, Armsby, Ransom, Griffith, Warren and a few more. Sorry I can't be of more help. To David & Susan,
The Newcastle connection is interesting as whilst my Gt Gt Grandfather John Hudson is recorded as being from S London (born circa 1832), I don't know where his father Edwin came from. However, in the middle of that century, there is a Hudson family living in Newcastle where the "son" was apparently born in London according to the census. My guess is that the Gillis (or Gillies) and Hudson families are linked somehow. Regards G
