I don't know if anyone can help ..I am at a dead end now .
.My gt gt gt grandmother was Eliza Sampson born Runcorn Cheshire
Manchester Cathederal Records [have been checked ]show that she was married on 5th June 1851 to William Cotton [I have lots of info on him ]
Eliza's father was given as William Sampson a sea captain her mother was Elizabeth? [from the IGI] Eliza Cotton died in 1861 ..and to confuse matters WilliamCotton married again in 1861 to Elizabeth Sampson from Manchester [not related to the first Eliza] Please can anyone find William and Elizabeth Sampson of Runcorn on any census ?? I have no dates for them

The first marriage was after the 1851 census was taken, so they will not be together on that one.........and as Elizabeth died in 1860, the same applies to 1861 census.

How old was Elizabeth when she died?

Where did you learn that Elizabeth was born in Runcorn?

Reggie It is William Sampson the sea captain ...and wife Elizabeth? of Runcorn who I am trying to find [Elizabeth Cottons nee Sampsons parents!]

on the 1851 William Cotton lived at Blackburn Buildings... Elizabeth is with him as wife and their baby daughter ..but they were not married then

If you buy the marriage cert........I'm guessing that you haven't already got it............it will tell you their declared ages at the time.

No Angela ..The second Elizabeth was from Manchester she was the daughter of Thomas Sampson occ porter [what are the odds of marrying two people with the same name ? Thanks Lynn
