Any Martin families in Cornwall, myself and my sisters are trying to find any family of our maternal grandmother. Her name was Dora Martin, she was born in 1898 in St Austell, her parents were Edwin Martin 1846-and Mary Sarah Martin nee Weymouth 1860,and her siblings were as follows:-Georgina 1883-Wilfred 1884-Edwin 1888-Blanche 1890-Fred 1891-and Gladys 1900.She married our grandfather Sidney Tonkin and had our father in 1921.This is where the story gets confusing our grandfather went to america where in 1925 he got married and back in cornwall our father was put up for adoption, and later adopted by a family from london. We do not know any more about Dora from then on.We are in contact with family from our grandfathers side of the family in the usa and canada who where unaware of our father and the previous marriage. If you could help us with our search we would be gratefull,as we are visiting cornwall next year in the hope of finding some information.Thankyou for reading this message.
