Hello Everyone,I am trying to find the birth details of OLIVE AMY BROWN.
I know that she was born 18th june 1897 ,WORCESTER.
I have found only one on the birth index but it gives the district as MERIDEN,is this classed as WORCESTER ?
Thank you Kath

Hello,I have OLIVE AMY BROWN'S death certificate and it says she was born 18th june 1897 WORCESTER.

Do you think it is possible that the place of birth is incorrect or do you think it is more likely that Jill has found the correct reference and the birth was not registered until jul/aug/ Sept ?

Jill

Jill Report 12 Nov 2007 13:36

have you found her in the 1901 census Kathryn?

Sam

Sam Report 12 Nov 2007 13:36

It is more likely that the birth wasn't registered until beginning of July, putting her in the J/A/S quarter.

If the birth was not registered until 1st July or a bit later - she would only have been 2 weeks old - so it's not particularly late. They had 6 weeks to register births. I think a September reg for a mid-June birth is quite reasonable.

Hi Jill,no I can not decide which one is her as there are 3 possible OLIVE BROWN'S.That is one of the reasons I thought I should send for her birth certificate. The only other detail I have for her is that she had a sister MAY but I do not know whether she was older or younger.
I have looked for May's death but have come up with too many possibles.
OLIVE died in 1998 at the age of 100 but I think May died before then. They were both spinsters and lived together in WALSALL.

Thank you all !
As three of you all think that the birth was probably registered in September and it does say Worcester on the one which you found I will go with that one,Thank you for your time and help.
