Does anybody out there have access to Norfolk baptism records. I'm trying to establish the mother's name of Elizabeth Baine born 1823 in Scoulton, Norfolk. Her father was called William Baine, a blacksmith. I have Elizabeth's marriage certificate but don't know the exact year of her birth. The m/c points to 1823 but on the 1881 census her birth year is given as 1835. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for that Julie, unfortunately I didn't find the Baine family. Search continues!

Would this family have any significance?
Everything is wrong, last name is Bean, her name is Eliza, born 1841 Thetford, Norfolk. However her mother and brother were born Scoulton and her father William is a blacksmith.
1851 census
Back Street, Lakenheath, Suffolk
William Bean, head, 38, journeyman blacksmith, born Hokham, Norfolk
Elizabeth, wife, 40, born Scoulton, Norfolk
Charles, son, 13, servant, born Scoulton
Eliza, dau, 10, born Thetford, Norfolk
William, son, 7, scholar, born Thetford
Obadiah, son, 4, scholar, born Suffolk, Lackenheath
Emma, dau, 2, born Lackenheath

Hi Kim

Sorry it took me a while to get back to your thread.

Have checked my CD for marriages in Norfolk between 1801 & 1837 and came up with two marriages (neither for Scoulton) but they may give you some idea of your next move for research:

William Baines married Mary Claxson 19/11/1811 in Blakeney.

Or

William Bains married Mary Reynolds 7/9/1806 in Gt Yarmouth.

One of them may be Elizabeth's parents.

good luck
Dee

Thank you very much for your time............. I do have copies of the 61 and 71 census, but thanks for the transcription. I don't think the Bean family has any signficance for me, names and places just don't fit. I'm not sure about the Blakeney and Yarmouth marriages, I'll have to investigate those leads further, they could be correct............ Anyway, thanks again for your help to everyone who responsed to this thread.
