My other one was 1947 with this on - jsut remembered I had another! The address of my step ancestor was on there and I found the person causing the body etc was the landlord of the lodgings he was living in (electoral roll gave me the names)

Thank you everyone ! So really the person who is the informant could be anyone............I was hoping that it was a relative, never mind at least it gave me her place and date of birth.
Thanks again,
Kath

I had this on one cert - the person "causing the body" etc turned out to be a social worker (this is a fairly recent death). So basically as Sue says its someone who takes the responsibility when there are no relatives.

Im told by a registrar after I recieved the same on a certificate that the person who registered the death Is not related to the deceased, thereby they are causing the body to cremated or buried

Was this after an inquest? Coould it have been a coroner?

I have not seen the heading Qualification on a death cert before.

Hi everyone,
I have just recieved a copy of a death certificate dated 1998 and under the heading QUALIFICATION it says'' causing the body to be cremated '' . I was wondering if anyone knows what this means as I have never come across this before ?
Thanks Kath
