My grandfather Edward Henry Luff died at sea in 1918 returning to the UK by ship from the First World War and was buried in Durban South Africa. Can anyone tell me anything about him? I am also trying to find out the circumstances of his death, what troop ship he was on, where he had been sent to during in the war etc etc.
I have his Army Service Number and know he was in the Royal Army Service Corps but 90% of WW1 Army records were destroyed in the Blitz and all I have been able to trace is his WW1 Medal Card which is virtually blank. Any help would be appreciated.
