John Geddes married to Annie Sutton

I am looking for any information on John Geddes known to have been born in USA in 1855. His parents were William Geddes and Janet Irvine both from Annan in Scotland. They emigrated to USA shortly after their marriage in 1851 where they had four children before returning to Scotland between 1860 and 1862. The 1871 British census records John, aged 16, an apprentice painter living with his parents in Langholm. Family history suggests that John returned to USA, possibly between 1872 and 1881 where he married Annie Sutton. They had three sons William, George and Harry. It is believed that either John and/or his son (s) was in the paint manufacturing business.I believe that John outlived all of his sons and died at age 90. |
