Yes that's him on the 1861 census - his first wife died in 1854 & on 2 May 1859 he married Harriet Taylor. Jeremiah was a widower & Harriet a spinster. ( must have liked the name Harriet lol)

I just cant understand where Jeremiah & Harriet are in 1851.......

Thank you though to the pair of you for taking the time out to help very much appreciated & truly sorry I didn't come back to the topic to answer you both sooner.

I think he married a Harriet Taylor in 1859

This is him in 1861 I think - but Harriet is alive or have I misunderstood your post. - she died in 1854

I am looking for this couple on the 1851 census:

Jeremiah MILSTED ( variant spelling Millstead, Milstead etc ) He was born roughly around 1814 ( according to census details after this time his place of birth is recorded as Plumstead Kent) In 1841 he is to be found in Westminster asa Police Constable. In June , the 21st, he marries Harriet Bayley VINEY in  St Geo Han Sqr - his age is recorded as fullage & his occupation is recordered as a GARDENER?? as is his father's Henry .

Harriet Bayley VINEY again recorded as full age both are to be recorded as living in Regent Street. A christening exists for this lady on the LDS website for 1820 Yapton Sussex. Now sadly she dies in 1854 in  St Geo Han Sqr .

I am unable to find the pair in 1851 census at all.
Please could I ask for some extra pair of eyes?
