Trying to find Tom Boyes (British Army)

Tom (or Thomas or any such derivitave) Boyes was the ancestor in the British Army. He or his decendents came to South Africa. Perhaps he would have been related to Frank Dixon Boyes c1860. Frank married Andronette (sp?) and lived in the Eastern Cape in the Mount Frere district.

Frank was my G-Grandfather via Liondle Boyes. Am trying to research our tree from Frank back into the UK.

regards,

Rob Boyes

What sort of period was he in the Army, do you know, even if only a rough idea.

Ann - Frank Boyes may have been Tom's son - so army so Tom's army career would have been +- c1860.

Have you got Franks marriage certificate? If he married in this country then this would have his fathers name, but then he may have married in SA? To find any army records for Tom, we'd need to know which regiment he was in. Where was Frank born, do you know? Again, if in England this would give both parents names and fathers occupation, so if he was in the Army at that time, might give his regiment.
