Help needed trying to find parents of Bessie Coombes born 1871 Culmstock would anyone be able to find them or would i have to go to the records office or order birth certificate? |

yes culmstock is in Devon know she married a george henry furbear 1887 didnt realise that mothers name would be on marriage cert, just wondered if anyone would have a website that might show mothers name |

You need to buy the birth cert really to see if a father is named. |

thanks looks like i have to. doh. I was thinking of popping into taunton records office hoping they would have something would anyone know? as that is only about 7 miles away from me and culmstock even tho is devon comes under somerset |

If Eliza was her mother, she may have married between 1871 and 1881, and Bessie could have been entered in 1881 under her step father's name. |

1861: Shouldnt case aspersions on poor old Eliza, a grandchild may be the child of one of the siblings :) |

Culmstock is about 7 miles NE of Cullompton in Devon and Cullomton is about 20 miles north of Exeter, Culmstock was, until 1937, in the registration district of Wellington, Somerset, Cullomton was in the registration district of Tiverton. |

i looked up eliza and and john pike and no mention of bessie i even trawled all the census for the whole of culmstock for 1881 and couldnt find her |

OK now we know the spelling and that her place of birth is in the Wellington registration district, this registration looks more likely: |

yes that looks more like her shaun if you do happen to come across anything else it would be appreciated if not dont worry i will have to order a birth certificate |
