Thomas was born in 1811 , married an Elizabeth ? He was originally from Oswestry, Shropshire.
He had 5 children , one of whom was my Gt Grandfather John Evans born 1844. John's marriage cert has his father's name as Thomas who in 1872 , according to the cert , was a Butler.
I can find no trace of Thomas Evans apart from the 1861 census which had him living with Elizabeth at Upper Brook Street, Oswestry. I am finding it almost impossible to track down john's exact birth date. If someone can help with this so I can order his birth cert and try and solve the mystery of Thomas , I would be very happy.

tks for the info - I had most of it though - strange thing is i had Thomas as a brewer until I received john's marriage cert where it states father's occupation as Butler - maybe he just raised his standing a little.
Would love to be able to track Thomas down a little more - appears he was only at home at the time of the 1861 census and maybe 1841 but elizabeth's birthplace is different

June - only prob is , in 1841 the family was living in Upper Brook Street , Oswestry , no where near Herefordshire . Wouldn't the birth have been registered in Oswestry itself??
