Marcelle Report 21 Nov 2007 11:25

Today I have received the marriage cert for George Applton and Eliza Lane who married 25/02/1860 at Bedminster, Bristol.
George Appleton was 22 so born abt 1837/1838 and Eliza was 19 born abt 1840/1841.
Geoge is noted in the census with Eliza as being born in Liverpool.
Father on the cert for George is Edwin Appleton a b..... maker (cant make it out). Eliza's dad was a boiler maker. I have found Eliza's family but can't find George and Edwin in the 1841/1851 census. On the IGI there is a baptism for George Chambers Appleton father Edwin mother Elizabeth
Can any detective out there see if they can find George and Edwin in the 1841 & 1851 census
Many Many Thanks
Marcelle

This definitely is clutching at straws

1841

George Chambers
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1837
Gender: Male
Where born: Lancashire, England

Civil Parish: Liverpool
Hundred: Liverpool

Registration district: Liverpool
Sub-registration district: Dale Street
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
George Chambers 50 tailor
George Chambers 4
Mary Chambers 45

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 555; Book: 3; Civil Parish: Liverpool; County: Lancashire; Enumeration District: 3; Folio: 10; Page: 12; Line: 13; GSU roll: 306937.

This family is living Bispham St same as the Appletons.
It's possible that George is the grandson of George and Mary Chambers and his proper surname got missed.
If George Chambers Appleton is the correct one then it is quite possible that he wasn't registered. Registration began July 1837 and he was baptised in the September so was possibly born before registration began.
