Anyone heard of this place or suggest what it might be

Appears as place of birth on 1851 brighton census HO107; Piece: 1645; Folio: 264; Page: 32;

for Elizabeth Linington (nee Leggett/ Leggatt)born c 1800
can't find her or husband on 1861 to confirm and 1841 just states not born in sussex.

Any ideas welcome - have hit a real wall here!!

Hi Katie -- it actually says:

Grenwich

which is an enumerator's phonetic spelling of

Greenwich

all as transcribed by the geographically ignorant and uninstructed Ancestry scribes. (Could someone really not have given them an atlas??)

Phew. Isn't that better?

And good on you for making corrections at Ancestry! I hope you get contacted by far-flung long-lost cousins -- I have been. ;)
