Roland F. Allgood - can anyone find him on the 1901 Census for me please? He was born Sept 1873 in Ingram, Northumberland and should be single and aged, 27years. His parents were Rev. James (b. 1826) and Isabella Allgood. Roland also became a clergyman. He could be in Northumberland or London, am not sure. Also would love to know where to find a picture of him - he could be my Grandfather. Any help would be v. much appreciated. TY.

Just out of interest there is an article in the Times Online dated Mon. Jan. 24th 1876, The Abbots Ripton Incident...(it seems it was an accident which occurred on the previous Friday evening).

The article names the people who died...............

Mrs Allgood, wife of the Rev. James Allgood M A Rector of Ingram, near Alnwick in Northumberland.

Mrs Allgood was travelling with her two sons, who at Peterborough left their mother in order to get into a smoking carriage, in which Lord Colville was travelling. Both youths were killed as well as their mother, from which it will be understood how marvellous was the escape of Lord Colville.....

So he lost two brothers and his mother in a terrible accident.

Gail.

PS, there is another small article on the inquest and identification of the deceased.

Also a death notice for Roland F Allgood, March 17th 1948

Thanks very much Gail, the rail crash involved the Flying Scotsman, the young lads David and James were probably going back to school. I'd love to see the death notice for Roland Allgood and the other article...
In fact anything else you might find...
Particularly want a picture to see if Roland resembles my father.
Have got some info on Rolands other brother William (1868-1957) who was in the army,(Brigadier General!) so there ought to be something about him somewhere.
Thanks again for great snippet. It was indeed a terrible tragedy.
All help thankfully received.
Warm Regards
Fiona.
