Hello Sylvia
I should have asked if you were related too. I have just started this side of the family having done most of my Mother,s. I have been a bit distracted as my Mother died three weeks ago aged 94 so I thought I'd start my searches again as a way of distraction. I can tell you that Jacob's son James, age 11 in 1901 was killed in action in 1915. He left a widow with three young sons, Thomas born 1910 (missing in action 1942), James Jacob (my father) born 1912 died 1986 and Henry born I think 1914 died about 35 years ago, Henry had one son, Colin.
I also know that Jacob's son Albert had one son but I never met him.
As I have lived in New Zealand for over forty years I have just contact with my cousin.

That has been a help. I am sure these are the right family. My grandfather told my grandmother before they were married that West was not the real name the "old man" had changed it. That is all I know.
