Your message struck a note with me as my father was told by his dad that his grandfathers brother was a bare knuckle fighter and was stabbed and murdered. None of his brothers were called John but I'm sure that they may well have changed there names. If you need any more information please do not hesitate to contact me. Incidently we can trace our family back to the early 1800's and they originated from Wiltshire. Kind regards Cheryl

Member Since: October 2007 Posts: 5 Send Message	Has anyone heard of a John Emery who, I believe, was a bare-fist fighter, perhaps early 1800s. He probably came from the Preston area of Lancashire where later family members were basket makers. Martin Johnson
