Sorry if this is already on the board somewhere but I cannot find it !1

I am looking for the marriage of George Bown and holly (No maiden name) around 1915 as we have ronald bown a son who was born 1928 but he is one of the youngest of 13 children from this marriage but holly had been married before nad had about 3 children from that marriage. we know George was born in 1888.

Any help will be great on this family

sorry I should have said that ronald was born in swindon and we think that george was from the glos area and yes as far as we know holly was her proper name. the birth cert is a differernt matter, my brother in law step mum will not let him have the birth cert so he is going to order one.

Hi Reggie, sorry I was a bit off I had only just woke up and had really bad/sad night at work.. anyway thank you so much for the info infact you was so spot on I had to check what I had said in the first place, because, I never mentioned legross but my brother in law was saying yesterday how someone going back was called legross (he did not know it was his dads mum as he never knew about her) and how they had a baby in the workhouse!! so I gather the lady we are on about was borne in the WH and you come up with the name thats brill thank you so much, have no idea at the moment where she was born so will have to try and get him to find out from a relation if he can. The problem we have is that my brother in laws mum went off when he was 3 and his dad married again when he was 9 about 1961 and his mum had all the marriage certs etc and his step mum does not believe in people doing this so will not let him see anything and his dad die 3 years ago so bit stuck really.

The birth cert of any of the children should tell you both surnames for the mother........I think you said she'd been married before!

And it would confirm her first name...........

Not sure if you want to fork out for a cert..........

Oh yes we will get a copy of his dads and then his mum's mum and then we might be able to get further back. I might come back soon with some questions on the bown dad side after i have seen how my niece is doing

I have just read the one you put about the siblings and yes that is right , there was also ken, yvonne, doreen, ken and some others and and we think a winifred and or margaret who was one of the three girls from the first marriage. that is a great help as we now know we are on the right track.
