I am trying to help someone trace their family tree.

His father's name was Stanley Kitchener Rees/Reece, born 5/6/1916. Birth registered Bedwelty WAles 10/7/1916.

Stanley's parents were William James Reece/Rees born Wales (c.1875) and Alice Badman (b.c1888 Winterbourne, Glos). They were married 13/7/1914 in Winterbourne Down, Glos.

On William and Alice's marriage cert a witness is William James' brother Edwin and the Father noted as James (deceased).

I checked through any records and the most likely family of William James are James Reece/Rees and Priscilla, he from Shirenewton , Monmouthshire and she from Goldsgreen, Staffs. On the census info this couyple do have a son Edwin born c.1886, Bleanavon.

I am now trying to find a way of definitely tying up James/Priscilla with Stanley Kitchener.

I know that my friend's Grandfather William James's brother Edwin emigrated to New Zealand.

Does anyone know of this family? I am having trouble locating a death for James Rees/Reece who must have died prior to 1914 when his son William James married. Also, does anyone know of the death of an Edwin in New Zealand.

I have what I think are the family in the 1871-1901 censuses. I just hope I've got the right family!!!

Any help much appreciated.

The fact that James was described as 'deceased' on the marriage cert could also be a cover for illegitimacy.

It probably isn't, but you have to bear it in mind.........

Hi, I actually know someone who married in to a Rees family in Wales. Glamorgan, I think. I can email them and see if there is a link on her husbands side if you would like.

I don't know how populer the name is but it could be worth a shot.
