Hi Nicola
Her mothers maiden name was Watmore i have just been told this on the phone and her mother came from Wraysbury so Lesley might have been reg under Eton.

The birth registration is for Leslie H. Hatcher. Make sure you spell it properly when ordering or they may not send the certificate. Leslie is male and Lesley is female.

The birth Nicola found is the only one registered in that qtr. for that name. Are you sure of the year?
Not registered under mother's maiden name either.

Could Lesley be a middle name?

I was going to check the Hatcher's again to see if I could find any name with a mother's maiden name of Watmore but Ancestry has just decided to go off again for me so I can't check at the moment.

Ancestry is now back and there is no Hatcher birth in the first qtr. of 1940 with a mother's maiden name of Watmore.

Is the grave in a cemetery? Does the cemetery have an office? If so they should be able to give you the date of burial.

How did you find the grave and how do you know it's hers without a headstone?

Oh not doing so well with this person at all.
Do any of you guys think it might be worth checking for the rest of the year for her birth and maybe trying 1944 for her death.
Any help would be appricated.

I was told by someone who still lives in Wraysbury that remembered her as a little girl and Lesley is buried to the lady's little brother.
There is no office for any info have already tried that one which i found rather strange.

Sorry Samantha,

Ancestry is on and off every couple of minutes tonight. It's off again at the moment. Will check when it's on again.

If there is no cemetery office then the local county council should have details of burials.

There is no death in 1944 either.

I wouldn't rely on other people's memories as they often play tricks on people.

Nan remembers and lesley's sister says she remembers her mother telling her about it.
We do not know where the records would be as they got move years ago but to where who knows.
So looks like it might be a lost cause.

Have you thought of contacting the local newspaper for the area.............even in wartime, the death by drowning of a small child would be newsworthy.........

The death was not i n the paper have checked that aswell when i was at Windsor last week while researching two other deaths that also happened in the family back in 1942.
