My grandfather, name as subject heading, was born probably in the 1890s (his son, my father, was 21 at the time of his marraige to my mother in Jan. 1940). He had at least 2 other sons. His wife was Lilian Ada, maiden name unknown. He was a baker in Hackney at the time of my father's marriage to my mother.
Can anyone supply any information about:
Lilian's maiden name
Their parents, his war record in WW1 (assuming he served)
Anything else.
thanks,
Frank

Your father's birth certificate would give you Lilian's maiden name.

In fact, if you find your father's birth in FreeBMD - or on Ancestry BMD listings it will show Lilian's maiden name as that shows on births after 1911.

Thanks Jill, I shall do that!

Hi Jill,
That didn't work. Dad must have been born in the last 3 quarters of 1918 as these have not yet been transcribed. I shall wait with baited breath until they ahve been!

Oh dear, how stupid can you get? I've just looked on the GR records, found my dad's birth and seen my Grandmother's maiden name - which I now realise that I knew all along! (It was Graves). Sorry I've wasted your time up to now Jill but I'm still on the look out for info about their parentage.

Correction, I have Lilian Graves' parents (Frank and Sarah) and her brother (Frank). It's Thomas Edward Parker that I'm stuck on.
