Trying to find children of Charlie and Mary Fox

My brothers and I over the years have checked many childrens homes and come up with absolutely nothing. I remember my father talking now and then of when he lived in Shotley Bridge which is in County Durham, but as always with these things they don't seem important until we are older and want to know where we come from.

My father was born in Winlaton which falls within the district of Gateshead, so you have the area right. Both Sarah's parents were deceased by the time she was widowed.

I know my father was fostered by a couple in Stockton on Tees when he was about 8 years old, but the first he knew of a sister was when she traced him.

Thanks for taking an interest Suzanne.

I can't think of anything else just now..I have looked at death of Daniel on CWGC site but there are no further details there of next of kin.

Where was your father fostered out to? Are there no records of his admission to children' home or similar? Would the children not have been left together at the same place?

Would Sarah not have received a war widows pension? Where were Sarah's parents? Did they take any children in?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Were they from Newcastle or Gateshead?

There are quite alot of births there for Graham, with mmn Snaith, on freebmd!

Hi Suzi-Wong

Don't know what happened to Sarah Graham. Still searching the records for her.

In the early 1960s (around 1962) the children still at home were teenagers.

Marriage year to Charlie Fox would be an estimate, possibly between 1930 and 1940. Charles Fox is quite a common name, I don't have Mary's maiden name and don't know where they were married.

If she was born in 1912...what age children did she have in the early 1960s?

If there were older ones can you narrow down the possible birth years and her marriage year to Charlie Fox?

What happened to Sarah Graham? Did she keep in touch?

Thanks Heather

I checked with Salvation Army a few years ago and they couldn't come up with anything.

Just a thought but if she contacted teh Sally Ann to find your dad, may be they can do the same in reverse for you? They most probably kept some info.

I've been trying for a long time now to find the family of my fathers sister. The natural mother and father of my dad John and and his sister Mary were Daniel and Sarah Graham (nee Snaith). Daniel Graham was killed in action in 1916 during WW1 and originally I thought only my father was fostered out by Sarah his mother.

For many years I have been looking for Mary with a maiden surname of Graham, but now believe she may have been adopted as a child. She was born in 1912 and in the early 1960's she traced my father through the Salvation Army, but my late father decided he did not want to maintain contact with her.

At that time in the early 1960's she was living in London with her younger children and her husband Charlie Fox. I would imagine that both Mary and her husband Charlie are now deceased, but I would love to trace their children (my cousins) whose names I don't know.

Is there anyone out there that recognises any of the above information and may be able to help me find my cousins.
