Well there you go, that must be his birth as Leighton J Mellor and his marriage as Leighton J Arnold, and his kids -- and if you're lucky, that's him in the phone book too.

Of course, if he were 31 now, he would have been born in about 1976, but like I said, there was no Leighton Mellor birth registered in 1976 ... so I think, really, he must be that one born in 1973.

If you search trees here at GR, there are two people who each have a Paula Hancock in their tree born in Stoke upon Trent, one in 1973 and 1975.

Like I said: no Leighton Mellor was born in 1974, 1975 or 1976, according to the registrations in the GRO index.

If you know his mother's name, we could look for her marriage to Leighton's stepfather.

If she was married to your father, she would have been so-and-so Mellor when she remarried; if you know that she was Jane or June or Joan or whatever, and aren't telling, then nobody can help.

If she wasn't married to your father, could you not find out what her name was?

If she married Leighton's stepfather after 1984, it could be very easy to find the record of that marriage and find out what the stepfather's name was. If we knew her name. If she married before 1984, it would take a bit of time, but it could be possible to find her marriage.

If you know when she and your father separated, it might give an idea of when she (re)married.

It would also be useful if you knew where she might have married Leighton's stepfather.

But with no info to go on at this point, there just isn't any help to offer, I'm afraid.

I wanted to find it because I had searched for people named Leighton getting married in Stoke upon Trent after 1984, and found this one:

So I wanted to know whether your Leighton is a Leighton J, and it seems he is indeed.

So I think, given that Leighton is a fairly unusual name, that this might be your Leighton.

His mother must have (re)married before 1984, because I don't see an Arnold/Mellor or Arnold/Wild marriage in Stoke upon Trent after that date.

Alls i know is he was born Leighton Mellor but circumstances changed with parent`s,his mum and my father seperated and his surname was changed to his stepfathers.

Well, no Leighton Mellor was born in England in 1974, 1975 or 1976. I just did the search. Took a while.

Unless someone who actually knows your Leighton happens by here -- which I of course what you were hoping, but which is very unlikely -- it looks like you won't likely have much luck without some more complete information. A better guess of his date of birth would be the place to start.

Is there no one you could have asked before posting your question?

I know there sometimes isn't. But sometimes people ask questions here and either have information they don't bother sharing, or could get information and didn't bother getting it.

Even complete strangers might be able to find something about your brother for you, from info that is available on line. So if you do know anything else, or can find out something else, don't hesitate to provide it.

He was born Leighton Mellor, is that right? Do you know what his mother's name was? Presumably that would be what he changed his surname to, so I guess if you knew it, you would have said ...

i`m looking for my half brother Leighton son of Ronald Mellor but i think he changed his surname,born in Stoke-on-Trent about 1975ish.His mothers name was Janet Wild.
