On the 51 census there's both a Thomas Hick born 1794 Wath and a William Hick 1791, Wath. William has a daughter name Tamer! Named after his mother?
I'm convinced that Tamar Wade married Charles Hick/Hicks first then Joseph Cusworth.

Could be her second marriage. Joseph was born in 1781, 15 years after Tamar.

A curious marriage on Familysearch. It's an extraced record which are usually reliable but this one is no help!
A female Hicks married Joseph C. 30 April 1799, Wath upon Dearne.
Could it possibly be the second marriage of Tamar to Joseph Cusworth?

Alternatively according to IGI:

John Burden married Mary Cusworth 15 DEC 1829 Wath Upon Dearne.

Also if you check out Batch Number: C108122 parents William Burden and Elizabeth Wadsworth you will see:

WILLIAM BURDEN Male Christening: 10 OCT 1805 Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire, England
JOHN BURDIN Male Christening: 19 FEB 1807 Wath Upon Dearne
MARY BURDIN Female Christening: 10 SEP 1809 Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire, England
SARAH BURDIN Female Christening: 25 FEB 1811 Wath Upon Dearne

On the 1851 census entry Johns next door neighbour is a William Burden c1806 Wath.

IGI does have a Mary Cusworth Christening:
06 APR 1805 Wath Upon Dearne, unfortunately no parent info.

Thanks for detailed information.I have looked again at the 1841 census and although on printed
form it is Samar,on the written form it looks more like Tamar.I agree it must be just one person.

In 1841 there is (presumably) a husband still alive.....named Joseph. Aged 60, he is a Mason's Labourer

Either he is Tamar's second husband, or son John was illegitimate

I've just checked the 1841 census image..the name is definitely Tamar.

So.....only one person involved in the search.

You don't seem to have both of the names on any one census........are you sure that it isn't one person with the name mistranscribed?

Samar is not a name I've ever come across, and it would be easy to misread the first letter of the name Tamar

I am looking for info about Samar and Tamar Cusworth both born in 1766 in Wath upon Dearne.I assume they were twins but I don't know their maiden names.In the 1841 census Samar was living with her son John and his family.In the 1851 census Tamar was living with her son John Burden and his family.She died in 1853. I think Tamar must have married one of Samar's husband's
brothers.I cannot find anything else about them.If anyone could
help I would be most grateful.Thanks.
