and also in 1891 he was single and with parents too!!

How did he manage that, Wendy. In 1861 and 1871 he is listed as living with his parents and was single.

Robert was also married before. He had three children by a Charlotte. Thank you all for your help

I think I have found the right connection but think that Anna/Annie/Georgianna was married before her marriage to Robert.

ANNIE Armes to Robert Prior. 1895. Oct/Dec Qtr. reg in Mitford. vol 4b 721. this covers Brisley.
Copy of this certificate should show if she is listed as a widow, also her Father's name, Query Askew.

I can find a marriage of Thomas William Armes to GEORGIANNA Askew. Mitford. vol 4b 431. 1891. This covers Weasenham.

Of course, this could all be wrong. The marriage certificate is the key to this.
The different pronunciations of the name can be down to someone hearing it wrong.

On 1901 census it mentions Thomas Armes aged 8, stepson, so I assume Anna was married previously. Robert and Anna had two children by 1901 Cissie Maud Prior born in Mitford j/f/m 1897 ref 4b 287 and Cecily May Prior born in Mitford j/a/s 1899 ref 4b 282a. If you get one of these birth certificates, it might give Anna's previous surname and then you could check free bmd. On 1901 census it gives her birthplace as what looks like Widsenham, Norfolk. Hope this helps. As Pam has said, they were married in 1895.
