For ref - the 1891 - why on earth didnt you mention Mary/Maria was born in Gibraltar?? There is a big gap in the kids' ages there from Maud aged 11 - born 1880 to the next kiddie. I am wondering whether this is a second marriage for Mary/Maria and also if that census is correct - a 52 year old having a 2 year old child??? Possible but unlikely Think that her age must be wrong there or something is amiss. More likely 32.

You need to buy the kids birth cert - personally Id go for the younger ones - Charles is your direct ancestor, buy his for £7 from GRO online - then you will have the mothers full maiden name.

Have you discounted this possible marriage? Noticed 2 of the kids born Marylebone:
Marriages Sep 1882 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arkinstall Mary Marylebone 1a 1263
CRISP Henry Marylebone 1a 1263
Hennessey Mary Marylebone 1a 1263

The only way to find the mother is to buy one of the kids birth certs as Ive mentioned above.

What do you mean about 2 Henrys married to Maria Louise according to the census?

Other thing being, have you looked for Maria remarrying after the death of her husband?

Where did Charles marry Maude?

Hi, Diane, I don't know if this info is of any use to you. My GGGrandmother was Jenny Crisp born 1774 in Crick Northamptonshire.
May be Uncle Crick's family came from Crick.
I have info on Crisp's from 1742-1870's who lived in Crick and the villages around.
Best Wishes Dorothy

My grandad was Charles Edward Crisp b. 1886 Islington he married Maude Eleanor Ringrose in 1913. His father was Henry Crisp b.1851 Suffolk and mother was according to census earlier Maria Louise and then Mary.Louise I have found him on 1891 census with Henry and Mary and 2 sisters Maud and Alice. I have tried every combination for 1901 but cannot find any of them anywhere. His father died in 1895 so he wouldn't be there but cannot find a death for Maria or Mary.

My aunt can remember a aunt Maud and a uncle Crick (must be a nickname but as I can't find anything on 1901 census cannot be sure).

Henry live in Silent Street Ipswich in 1861 nad was a painter and decorator, in 1871 lived North Street, Marylebone as a painter. in 1981 they all lived Brook Street Islington and Henry was a Painter.

Does any of the names ring any bells with anybody asapart from my grandad I cannot find any brothers or sisters.

The only marriage I can find is Henry Crisp and Maria Louise Thomas 1872 but according to census there seems to be 2 Henrys married to Maria Louise.

Thanks Diane
