Thanks anyway Julie - you have been SO helpful - I am at a loss now & cant make head nor tail of it!!!!!!

Known FACTS:

I have come across a marriage of James Mann to Rosetta (?) - they have 3 children, William 1872 /Elizabeth82 / Rosie85. There is also an earlier child Arthur Derry born 1871. On Elizabeths birth record, mothers maiden name PARKER. so Rosetta Parker..

I then had a PM from a 'relative' who also had Rosetta in her tree, married to Mr ? Derry and HER father was detailed as John Derry & mother Grace. so. Rosetta Derry..


...But then Arthurs surname is Derry (later changed to Mann).

I thought, that if I could find 'The Parents' John Derry & Grace, I would see if they had:
1. either a son, who married Rosetta Parker
or
2. A daughter Rosetta, who married a Mr Parker.

Hopefully, I am making sense & you can see where I am coming from.

Any ideas?

Just had an interesting thought ( dont have many)!!!!!

But, if pos could you find the marriage of;
Joseph Derry 6 , who we saw in the original finding of the Derry family in the 1851 census in Leicester.
so looking at marriages aroungd 1865ish

If my hunch is right, HE married someone called Rose, Rosie or Rosetta!!!!!! - hopefully, Rosetta Parker!

If right, we will have been 'barking up the wrong tree' & I will then explain all .

Yes - I do believe that this is Rosetta Mann (John & Graces daughter) & her family in 1891. she is a widow here, so at some earlier point , her husband has died.

I can understand the confusion.

Rosetta had a son, Arthur, before she married James Mann ( I am tracing the Mann family history). Arthurs surname is shown as Derry.

BUT, when Rosetta has her daughter, Elizabeth Mann (with James) - the mothers maiden name is shown as Parker.(?) so I wondered if she had previously been married to a Parker?

Heres what I have so far:

So, I assumed Rosettas maiden name was Parker and also assumed that she had been married before to Mr ? Derry.

I had thought that this ' relative' had got it wrong - Rosetta was not the daughter of John Derry, - as her maiden name was shown as Parker.

Gets confusing eh?

Anyway, I suppose, my 'relative' could be correct, it could be Rosetta Derry and she had previously been married to a Mr ? Parker - but then Arthurs name is Derry also, so I still believe that Rosetta was:

Rosetta Derry nee Parker who later became Rosetta Mann.

any thoughts?

I sit pos to find John & Grace in a later census?

Also, is it pos to find a Derry/Parker marriage around 1873ish???

This info may help to confirm (or not), whether we have found the right John & Grace.
