I am trying to trace both decendants and ancestors of William Edgerton Stansfield born sometime in1884/5 in salford he was married to Bertha Maud (nee James) in 1912 in Salford.I know my granddad William had at least one brother who lived in the Urmston/Davyhulme area of Manchester, and another possibly called Joseph reputed to have been the last horsecollar maker in Manchester he had a workshop/pemises just off Liverpool st opposite where the air and space museum is now (also known as city hall) They had three sons William(Bill married Vi a music hall dancer),Bernard my father(married Lillian) James Alfred (unmmarried) a daughter Martha (married Edward (Ted) Randal) and an adopted son Robert(Cooke parents were Rico and May circus performers). William worked at the Manchester Evening news when it was the evening news and chronical (about 30years) my grandmother ran a boardinghouse for the artistes that performed at the Salford Hipodrome the house was on Windsor bridge opposite the Prince of Wales feathers pub almost next door to Salford University can any one help |
