Well spotted Jeanette - I am looking for Susans surname:
John Fowkes born c1852, Leicester married Susan ? born c1855 Basford, Nottinghamshire.

But I am also lookingfor theirs sons marriage - also called John:
John Henry Fowkes born c 1879 Leicester - no idea who he married unfortunately ( didnt think there would be so many marriages of 'Fowkes ' around that time - 1900.

Can't be either of those marriages - if you look on Free bmd you will see the 1900 marriage would have been with either Elizabeth Hunt or Lily Ann Wilshere and the 1903 marriage would havebeen with either Fanny Bowley or Alice Revell and from the census returns you know his wife was called Susan.

On 1861 census John T Fowkes was living at 1 Olive Hill, Leicester with his parents.

Thomas aged 29 who was a wool carder.
Elizabeth aged 20
John T (son) aged 8
George (son) aged 5
James (son) aged 4
Samuel (son) aged 1
Thomas (son) aged 1 month.
There was also a visitor Mary Collis aged 63 who was a widow and
Mary Ann F Topley aged 13 who was said to be a daughter but not sure whose daughter.

On 1871 census the family were living at 34 Pasture Lane, Leicester.

Thomas aged 38 who was now a factory hand.
Elizabeth aged 39
John T (son) aged 17 who was a factory hand
George (son) aged 15 who was a factory hand
James (son) aged 14 who was a factory hand
Samuel (son) aged 12
Thomas (son) aged 10
Sarah (daughter) aged 8
Annie (daughter) aged 6
Harriet (daughter) aged 4
Joseph (son) aged 1

Any chance of finding John T Foulkes
b.c1853 in the 1861 census please??

On 1881 census John T Foulkes b.c 1853 was living at 78 Abbey Gate, Leicester and was a woollen fetler. He was living with

Susan (wife) aged 26
Elizabeth (daughter) aged 4
John H (son) aged 1.

had a look on free bmd found a john annie/annis fowkes 1893 marrage leicester there was 2 names one was mary emily tarry the other was mary emily thornton you best bet would be the marraige cert.

Can anyone please find the marriage of John Henry Fowkes c1879 Leicester - we are looking at Leicster marriages arround 1900ish. (perhaps find him in the 1901 census).

Also, his father John Fowkes born c1852, Leicester married Susan ? born c1855 Basford, Nottinghamshire.
