I'm looking for my great grandfather Jacob Mills. He was born around 1883/1884 in the Whitby area in England. I have found him in the 1891 census and the 1901 census, I can't find a marriage for him but know he had a son with a lady who's last name was Balentyne, first name possibly Mary Ann, in1917. My grandfather was lead to believe that she died in childbirth with her second child and he was placed in an orphange by Jacob some time in the 1920's. It is said that he went to Australia. he was a merchant seaman does this ring any bells with anyone? where do i look next?
