The reason I presumed that it was dickinson is because that is the middle name of their first born daughter. Agnes(dickinson) Howson born 1892. Do you ever get the feeling of giving up!!!! Agnes was my grandfather christoper's sister he was born 1904 if that helps!

What makes you think Robert married Margaret? The 1901 census has Robert Dickinson as the head and Margaret Howson as his lodger. Agnes's middle name could well come from him.

DO you have Christophers birth certificate, if so, who were his parents (full names) and if you don't have it, I think you need to get it.

I think someone has been telling porkies somewhere or got their wires crossed. On the 1901, 1891 and 1881 censuses, Margaret is Margaret Howson and is unmarried.

if they have the birth certificate for Christopher it should have the mother maiden name on that.

And so ends my search on my grandad then!! Oh well thanks for all your help I thought it was possible she was unmarried as it doesnt show a father for any of the children on FamilySearch neither.
Thanks for your time

Its quite possible that Robert Dickinson was the father although I don't suppose you will ever be able to prove it one way or the other. You could wait for the 1911 census, she could have married him by then!

sorry I am really confused to what we are looking for.

In your first post you put you was looking for a marriage between Margaret Dickinson and Robert Howson. But in 1901 Margaret Howson is livng with a Robert Dickinson, so wouldnt it then be a marriage between Robert Dickinson and Margaret Howson, going by the theory that this is who she maybe married.

I would say get Agnes D Howson's birth certificate if you haven't already, as it should give her parents name including her mother maiden name, and if Agnes was illegitimate then the fathers box is likely to be blank, but at least then you can work from there.

It is quite possible that Agnes and Christopher's parents are neither a Margaret nor a Robert, so I think you must get the birth certificate to confirm what you are looking for.
