i am searching for my grandfather who came to stourbridge worcestershire england in about 1917 and married my grandmother lucy yardley ( her first husband was killed in 1916 in gallipoli). We only know that mr gilles came to england from holland and left either before or shortly after the birth of my father george in 1920. There cannot be many dutch Gilles's who ended up in stourbridge for a few years, what is his name ? where did he come from? where did he go? are you a relative of mine? you could do a lot worse. They must have divorced, or did the mysterious mr Gilles die.No one talks of him. Lucy married again to Walsh in about 1923.Searching on behalf of my partner Patrick. Got his name now, Jules J Gilles, French name but came from Holland.
