Hi Julie,
You got the correct one on 1901. He's with Joseph and Arthur Turner.
RG 13
Piece 3656
Folio 132
Page 9.
I did find a George Turner and wife Sarah on the 1881, which could be James's parents, but George is not a farmer.
Cheers Margaret.

Thanks Julie and Alice,
What i'll do is email her again, see if she has any more definite details. What is it about 5 am down under? May get a reply later.
Needle in a haystack comes to mind on this one.
Thought extra eyes and fresh brains would do the trick.
Cheers Margaret.

Margaret

There's loads of births in that qtr for a James Turner born Lancashire

Margaret

Margaret Report 8 Dec 2007 14:58

I'd say that is correct Julie for 1901.
She seems sure in her email that parents are Sarah and George. James joined the Kings Royal Rifles and gave next of kin as his mother Sarah Turner?? George she thinks was a farmer.
She's not mentioned Arthur or Joseph, will ask her. James was her grandfather.

My thinking is he has to have been born in Salford, and the birth looks good as she's given me 4/11/1887,

I don't know how she's arrived at these names, she has obviously done some research, but even i'm struggling with the info she's sent me. I've trawled but coming up blank.
If he's at a poor law school in 1901, then parents are not listed?

Hi anyone who can help. Searching for James Turner b. 4/11/1887 Lancashire on the 1891 census. Mother Sarah, father possibly George?
On the 1901 he is at Swinton Poor Law School in Salford, Lancs.
In 1906 he is at Gladstone St, Middleton, Lancs.
Trying to find this info for a contact in Australia.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Cheers Margaret.
