Hi Catherine,
I too have Sparrow's from Suffolk on my tree, I also have several Savage's from London, but they are all prior to yours and go back to the 1700's, I have not got into the 1800's yet.
Can we help each other?

Seeking information on the SPARROW family and SAVAGE family from Depden, Suffolk.

My gg grandfather, George Savage, was born in 1839/40. In the 1871 census his place of birth is stated as Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and his occupation was Carman. From the marriage certificate of George to Jane Stone I know his father was called John Savage and his occupation was Horse keeper.

I cannot find any record of the birth of a George Savage born in Bury St Edmunds at this time. However there is a George Savage listed in the 1851 census as living in Depden (which is just outside Bury St Edmunds) and his father is called John.

A John Savage married a Mary SPARROW in Depden on 10/1/1834, I am assuming these are George's parents. But I still don't know for sure if this is the correct George. I could be totally wrong and there may have been another George Savage actually born in Bury St Edmunds.

Any ideas?

Regards Catherine
