Firstly let me apologise if this thread has been started on the wrong board.

I am desperately trying to research my immediate heritage.
I have developed most branches of my family tree back to the early 1800's, however I can only get the Mawson branch back to 1840.

I have searched through census info, done searches for births, deaths marriages etc,
I know that John Mawson was born circa 1840, in Darlington (according to census info), and had a first wife called Elizabeth Elsey.
He later went on to remarry by the looks of the census info.

I am trying to find siblings, or parents of John, but to no avail.
Can anybody offer any suggestions?

Thanks for the fast reply.
I spotted that one too but thought that Darlington and Durham were too far apart.
Maybe something to do with the administrative counties?

James Mawson married Hannah Robinson o/n/d 1837 Darlington, ref vol 24 page 47. If you get a copy of this it will possibly give you more information to check back.
