Susannah married Henry Adolphus Thorpe in St Giles church, Camberwell, London on March 5 1827.
They had a son, Richard, born 26 June, christened 25/28 July St Georges Camberwell.
Richard later married Emily Mitchell, but gives his parents' names as Henry Adolphus and Elizabeth Thorpe.
What happened to Susannah? Can't find a death record for her.
There is a Henry Thorpe living in Clapham in 1841 census, with three children, one of whom is a Richard.......but can't confirm it's the correct one.
Any info about these people would be greatly appreciated - am doing this research for a 92 year old descendant who would be delighted with any snippets of information.

Julie, Im interested about Richard giving his parents names on a marriage cert? Did he marry in Scotland? as English certs do not have that information.

If any of Henrys children are born after 1837 you can buy the birth cert for mothers maiden name. Look for birth ref on freebmd.


Looks like Henry married again: If it were to Eliza - check out the 1851 census for him with a wife - then it may be Richard grew up with her and regarded her as his mother. But I am still curious where he gave those two names.
