Find Ancestors

Hi I'm trying to find info on my gt grandfather called William Henry Crathern who was born I think in 1857- possibly 6th march. He married Anna Maria on 6/3/1875. I can only find a ref to a marriage of a Henry Crathern marrying at Wangford- dont know where that is, but my Family were all from either Guildford or Woking Surrey. I can find no record fo the family in any census although they had 11 children. I think he also married an Elizabeth Laye, but when I ahve no idea. Any enlightenment gratefully received.

John Rees appears to be living with the Cratherns, bu the Glendons seem ot be in a separate part of the same house.

The 1841 does not give relationships between poeple, but it can be assumed that John Crathern age 35 is the father.

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. I haven't had time to digest all this info yet as I had to ban myself from this site for a few days as I was becoming totally obsessed. I can understand why I couldn't find him if it was mistranscribed, but the later census in 1881 and 1891 i searched but could not find any Cratherns- what was I doing wrong? Or did u not use genes reunited search engine? Any way a marvellous help

we NEVER use the GR search engine!!!

To buy the credits to search the extra places on Genes Reunited is the most expensive way of finding information.


All of the information on censuses that I found was from www.ancestry.co.uk. Other people use Find My Past.

The information on births marriages and deaths comes from www.freebmd.org ............. a free site.

The subscription to ancestry is expensive, but is well worth it. The expense is one reason why so many of us help others like yurself ...... we want to make full use of our subs, and appreciate that others may not yet be ready to splurge.

Of course, the other major reason we help is because we are just plain curious!!!
