Find Ancestors

Hi, my grandad was born William Savage Prentice in Sunderland in1875 he married my grandmother Minnies Jane Powell in 1905 under the name of William Savage in Lambeth London, my grandmother died in 1923 in Kent and on the DC it says her husband was William Savage Prentice of 69 Preston Street Barrow in Furness but I cannot find any record of his death
can anybody help please

William could have lived until he was 100. The only way to find his death is to trawl through the death register 1/4 by 1/4 for each year until he's found. As it would appear that he used 2 names, this would have to be done on both.
Do you have any living family who could give you an approx date?

Also worth mentioning, there is a William S Prentice on a New York passenger list but I don't have access to the records. Sorry.

Does the grandmother's death cert state 'wife of'........or 'widow of'?

Jane,

Was your grandad divorced? Because if this is your grandad married to Margaret in 1895 (1st) and then to your grandmother, then he was either divorced or married to both women at the same time (although briefly).

Hi all, I don't think he had been married before, it states on Minnie Jane's DC that she was the wife of WSP
