Thank you so much for responding to my request. It is interesting to note that Sarah birthplace is given as Hasfield, Stroud. I suppose that Maria must have died before 1851, so I will have to look for her death before then

this branch of the sparrow family just arent showing on the 1851 . they should be there but !!

I assumed that Matilda was the daughter of Maria but obviously the 1841 census does not have relationship details, therefore it is possible that Matilda was her daughter-in-law. This would explain why she is a mother on the following censuses. Do you agree?

P.s. What a pity about the 1851 census. Thank you for looking for me

pos her daughter in law Matilda is described as Mother on the 1871 but she only has Henry with her . shes consistently described as a widow tho altho this can be a smoke screen for an unmarried lady . unfortunately the relationships aren't described on the 1841 but as matilda is only 20 then one would assume she was Maria's daughter.

We shouldnt assume i know but unless you can prove anything else its a possibility
