Forgot about the actual surname in the question --

Name: Christina Deroin
Age: 8
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1833
Gender: Female
Where born: Dumfriesshire, Scotland

Civil Parish: Hoddam
County: Dumfriesshire
Address: Cleughead
Parish Number: 829

Why were you thinking her? If it's her you're interested in, James Walmsley seems to be the wrong trail, of course. ;)

But this may be a better option, in 1851:

Name: Thomas Ross
Age: 41
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1810
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Margaret
Gender: Male
Where born: Scotland

Civil Parish: Woolwich
Town: Woolwich
County/Island: Kent

Registration district: Greenwich
Sub-registration district: Woolwich Arsenal
ED, institution, or vessel: 15
Household schedule number: 54

Christy Ross 18
Margaret Ross 51
Thomas Ross 41

This could be Thomas in 1841:

Name: Thomas Routledge
-- corporal, [?]Bn [?]
Age: 20
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1821
Gender: Male

Civil Parish: New Windsor
Hundred: Ripplesmere
County/Island: Berkshire

This is about the best match I see for her in the Scottish censuses:

County: Midlothian

Walsmley.

Would that be Walmsley?

I first searched at FreeBMD by coping and pasting the surname, for accuracy. Except it obviously wasn't accurate. Jeez I wish people would proofread their posts. The spelling of people's names is about the most impotant datum there is.

1881 census:

Alexander J. Shiells 1
Emma Shiells 22
Christina A. Walmsley 49
James Walmsley 52
James Walmsley 14
Jane Walmsley 16

Anyhow ... searching FreeBMD for

marriages
1848-1860
surname: wal*
given name: james
spouse's given name: christina

there just aren't any.

Christina was born in Scotland. Might they have married when/if James was stationed there?

Yup. Here ya go:

JAS. WALMSLEY
Spouse: CHRISTANA ANN ROSS
Marriage: 15 OCT 1855 Leith, Midlothian, Scotland
Batch No.: M116921

Hi, struggling with this one. Need to find out if this woman married a James Walsmley b1830 Lancs. Having difficulty as they are moved about for military reasons.
Can anyone help/advise on this. They we're stationed on Gibralar (Andalusia) but I can't find any info apart from there children born there. I know she's called Christina Ann thanks to the census

Again any help would be great

Hope to hear Soon!
