I have been looking for some ancestors on the 1861 census and couldn't find them so I decided to look through the villages listed on Ancestry. I expected them to be in either East Ayton or West Ayton in Yorkshire. I still couldn't find them but I did notice that East Ayton began with a Susanna Wallis listed as Wife, and the first schedule number given is 49. This leads me to believe that there must be other pages before this that have been missed. |

Hi Jeanette, I notice that in 1871 there are 16 images whereas in 1861 there are only 9, so it is possible there are some images missing. I know there are some parts of the 1861 missing, but not sure where. |

There a list of missing census pieces on Clive Buckle's website. I don't know if this will help as I'm not familiar with Yorkshire |

I have looked through West Ayton on the discs. The schedule starts with household 1 continues until it clearly states the end of the village. Unfortunately they are not there. |
