I am trying to find a death certificate for a family member who died at sea. His name was John Biscoe and he died in 1843 whilst returning from Australia to England - any ideas where i might find a record? Any help appreciated. thanks, Irene

You can search the GRO Marine Deaths index, for free, on Family Relatives but you do need to register first.

But I wonder... If the ship was Australian then would a death would be registered in Australia? Not one I can answer....Sorry.

there is nothing that matches the name in the GRO marine deaths index for that period.

Regarding John Biscoe, there is plenty of info on him if you Google along with some addresses for archive material.
