Trying to find the parents names & any other details eg siblings etc of
Betsy F A Clarke born March 1913 Rugby (mmn Harris)
&
Henry Brittain born Dec 1913 Foleshill (mmn Swain)

Possible marriage for the parents from freebmd -

The only way to be sure would be to order the child's birth certificate to find out who the parents were - especially with common surnames like that as they might not have married in Rugby at all.

The only way to find out more than have already about the parents is to purchase the certs............or look on freebmd for possible marriages.

As for siblings, you can look on freebmd also.........just enter both surnames in the appropriate search boxes.

Much more rewarding to find info for yourself......having it handed on a platter is a bit of a let-down, I think.

I got Betsy and Henry's marriage and their siblings and children but of course it doesnt give you mothers christian names (i think they should change it - lol)

It is easy to find this information using freebmd - which I assume you used to find the births of Henry and of Betsey.

Also there may be other siblings whose entries have not been transcribed onto freebmd and the indexes are free to search on Ancestry - I dont really have the time to look through all the Clarke entries for you!!

Bear in mind that these couples having married before 1901 will most likely have had other children whose mothers maiden names wont be on the registers between 1899 and 1911 as mothers maiden names weren't given on the registers until the latter part of 1911. So there will be children that we cant definitively find for you.

What do you mean that it doesn't give the mother's christian names?

The marriage indexes post 1912 give the spouse's surname which you can then do a reverse look up on her name with the cert reference numbers to find her name - if it hasn't already been transcribed on free bmd.

The birth indexes just show mothers maiden surname - it has been this way since the latter part of 1911 - so to change it to give the mothers full name would be a huge task - and also would not give mothers that little shade of privacy - especially for single mothers around that kind of time.
