Find Ancestors

Ok so far i have drawn blanks with near as damn everything looking for my grandfather. His name was Charles Edward Thornton born c1889 died 1939 in Bacup Lancashire aged 49.

I can find some Charles' in the 1891 and 1901 in the Skipton and Barnoldswick area (where i believe he came from) but lists no father and unfortunately I have no positive clue what his mother was called and whether the one listed is really the one i need.

The main info i have and the only real lead is his marriage cert from 1919 that lists his father as James and lists his address as 3 Victoria corttages, Morecambe.

What im asking is:
Is there anyway i can find out who else lived at that address in or around that time and where the info may be available?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Kelly's directories are sometimes available in the local libraries of the area. If you are not in the area, you could see if someone local could look for you.
These are like an early telephone directory and may list other people at that address.

What was his father's occupation on the marriage certificate?

Not as i am aware of no :(
Non of the older end of the family remembers anything really of any revelence except maybe a John that was in the family that either swam or drowned in morecambe bay but no dates for that either

The fathers occupation was "Cotton Mule Spinner" and states that he was deceased by 1919

unfortunately not Gail. The names supplied on the cert are Vincent Banham who I know for fact is from Bacup, now the other is Hannah Mary Gothard who i cant seem to find out much about at all

I cannot say this is the right person, but the Banham surname does seem to come into it which is a bit of a coincidence....

Have you tried for any of the possible birth certs for Charles Edward Thornton?

There are none for 1889 - but there is this one which isn't far off the year, for Lancs:

The Charles from Lunesdale's father is a Robert who is a Farmer so I dont think that is the right family...

a mystery thats certainly turning me hairless.
I have posted this same question on how to find my grandad on various occasions and all with the same results, unfortunately none of the answers turned into a glimmer.

But...

When all said and done im very grateful to all you people that try to help and im not prepared to give up just yet :D

If you would like to know just how bad my dilemma is just pm me if you wish becvause it certainly gets from bad to worse
