All I could suggest is checking the images for Saddleworth!

Thanks all for looking thought I was going senile. I have tried searching just on birth place and also on residence so I may have to plough through Saddleworth. Sheer curiosity, Esther is a 1st cousin twice removed and I just wanted to see where she was in Saddleworth

I'll keep trying, Jennifer

Thanks Rose but this isn't the right one, Esther was a domestic servant and her parents remained in Swineshead, Lincolnshire.

I might have to take it up with Ancestry as to why I can't find her on their site

Saddleworth appears to have Delph and Upper Mill enumeration districts, references RG13 4088, 4089 and 4090.

The first and last have around 6,000 people enumerated according to Ancestry. 4089 has just 1,300 or so - might be worth checking out this one in priority to the others (mind you, I have no knowledge of whether 6,000 would be expected - it could just be coincidence that the other two have very similar numbers?)

Thanks Libby and Ivy for that information, had to go and cook last night so couldn't get back to you!

I think I'll ask Ancestry if some pages are missing. it's funny though because if you search here on GR the info comes up about Esther being in Saddleworth.

Thanks again Jennifer

Sophie I have had a look and I suppose it could be her, they were always changing names just to confuse us!!
But I don't know why it comes up with her being at Saddleworth on the official 1901 census return. I'll have to find some kind person who has some credits to look for me and then if she is there and I have all the folio numbers etc I can tell Ancestry they have some missing
