A tip, Julie -- search at FreeBMD rather than Ancestry.

At FreeBMD, you can search by both surnames, even before 1911.

The results will only tell you that the two surnames appear on the same page, but it's a pretty quick click to check the given names and rule out the Johns married to the Williams and the Anns married to the Susans. ;)

You can in fact search by complete names, looking for Alice Ansell & Joseph Jones, e.g. Or for Joseph Jones & Alice, or Ansell & Joseph, and so on.

hi twinkle i'm not sure if its the same one i found alice in the 1891 and the 1901 census and her birth in 1883 but couldn't find a birth in that your for lucy alice ansell.
i did her coming from walsall wood and the address seemed about right for her grandaughter. although i was only able to find 2 of her children and they think there are 3.
thanks for you help
