I have just taken out a months subscription on Ancestry which will do me for my research over the xmas period.

But ... is this the best site to give your money too?

There seem to be so many around now.. Is there one site that offers more than most? or will i need to subscribe to more than one to get the most from my online research.

Many thanks for your thoughts..

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Andy

I have full subscription to ancestry. They seem to have everything that I need. I suppose all the websites seem to have all the same information. The best thing that I like about ancestry is that it searches for you on the people that are in your family tree and gives the records that it thinks matches the information.

Hi Sarah ..

When you say full subscription is that just for the UK or the world one they offer?

LIke you i also like Ancestry and the way the site is set up to aid you in your research. Makes things alot easier.

I pay monthly for ancestry and it searches the whole database and comes up with American records as well as UK records so I would presume that it covers everything.
I originaly signed up so that I could look at the census records to aid me in my search but now I keep finding other things that they offer. I recently found a WW1 pension record for someone so I'm quite happy with ancestry.

Sarah, Thanks for your thoughts.

I think because they keep offering new databases they will remain one of the fore runners for reseach.
