	Not very helpful. How sure are you of her birth year?? There are five on the 1901 Census (and the same on the 1891 Census). NONE say born in Whitehaven, and I don't know that part of the UK. The first one (Lamplugh) does say it is in the Whitehaven registration district BUT she is a niece! 	Hi I just realised that "not very helpful" at the start of my message sounded as though I was commenting on what you had put in your header! Not so ...... I was referring to what I had found, which is/was not very helpful!! If you got that birth from the BMD, then Whitehaven was the registration centre for the district, and she could have been born in any one of a number of villages. SO that child born Ennerdale without parents and living with her grandmother could be the one. Ellinor could be her mother, or another daughter of the family. I think the only way you can know which one of the 5 Jane Cassons that showed up on the two censuses is yours, is to order the birth certificate. That will tell you the mother's name, and the father's of course if mom was married. The cert will cost £7. I'm in Vancouver, BC ............ originally from near Manchester. sylvia
