In 1861 Susan Smith is listed as born in Metheringham Lincolnshire. Metheringham is in the Reg District of Lincoln and the following from Free BMD ties in if her name was Harwood

Births Mar 1842 (>99%)

HARWOOD Susan Lincoln 14 461

Thank you for the info. I had already seen it before but dismissed it.
You could be right about the surname being spelt wrong.
I have the original marriage certificate Cornelius Smith and Susan Orwood as is spelt on the certificate were married 15th August 1859 at St Marks church, Peterborough. Thomas Orwood is listed as Susan's father and his occupation is Potter.
The trouble I am having is that there is no records before 1861 or after of Thomas Orwood ( Harwood ).
I do know that Cornelius Smith went from Peterborough where he married to live in Spalding and that is where my family come from.
I am finding it so very hard to trace my Smith line back.

I beleive the following could be in Susan and her husband in 1861 just after their marriage

In the same house as Lodgers were a Thomas Harwood (a potter) and his wife Elizabeth. I wonder whether they were mistranscribed and should be Orwood? Just a thought. I must admit I can't see a Thomas Orwood or a Susan pre this census

Please can anyone help me. I am trying to find any information on a Susan Orwood. Susan was born about 1835 in March, Cambridgeshire, England. Susan Married a Cornelius Smith 1859 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. I know that Susan's father was Thomas Orwood. Any information on the Orwood family would be a great help.
